Wait Well! (Part 1)

The message this past Sunday was from Romans 8:18. Here are some of the implications and applications of this verse:

1. We must count the cost in coming to Christ – and wait. (Romans 8:18; Isaiah 64:4)

2. We have a moral duty to think – and wait. (Romans 8:18; 2 Timothy 2:7)

3. We are to expect suffering in this life – because of the fall, because of our failure (sin), and because of our faith – and wait. (Romans 8:18; John 16:33)

4. We are to rest in God’s way of gain through pain – and wait. (Romans 8:18; Isaiah 55:8-9)

5. We must rest in the truth of God’s love for us in the face of pain and rejoice in the truth of our love for God in the survival of our faith – and wait. (Romans 8:18; Romans 5:1-5)

6. We must not expect “heaven on earth” but love in an imperfect world – and wait. (Romans 8:18; 1 Corinthians 13:4)

7. We must expect that the “heaven to come” will be worth it all (all the pain involved in the wait) – and wait. (Romans 8:18; 2 Corinthians 4:17)

8. We must look forward to the joy set before us as we endure the cross – and wait. (Romans 8:18; Hebrews 12:1-2)

9. If the infinite suffering of Christ was worth all that God has prepared for us, then it must be worth all that we will suffer and even more – so believe it is worth the wait, however painful – and wait! (Romans 8:18; Isaiah 53:10-11)

All the pain we will experience in waiting on God to fulfill His promises to us in Christ is nothing compared to the glory and joy and pleasure He has prepared for us. It will be worth the wait and more! (1 Corinthians 2:9)
