And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” (Mark 1:17)
Let me encourage all our men (13 years old and up) to join us for our men's retreat this year. Our topic is "The Joy of Fishing: Fighting for Our Joy (and the Joy of Others) in God through Evangelism."
If this topic seems frightening, join the club! If this topic seems unnecessary, then pray and ask God if He thinks so! If this topic seems confusing, then let's pray for clarity and talk about it on the retreat!
The title of the sessions for this topic are the following:
Session 1: Love
Session 2: Understand
Session 3: Pray
Session 4: Connect
Session 5: Invite
Session 6: Talk

Every One a Minister of the Word (Luther)
The ministry of the Word belongs to all. To bind and to loose clearly is nothing else than to proclaim and to apply the gospel. For what is it to loose, if not to announce the forgiveness of sins before God? What is it to bind, except to withdraw the gospel and to declare the retention of sins? Whether they [that is, the Roman Catholic church] want to or not, they must concede that the keys are the exercise of the ministry of the Word and belong to all Christians. (Martin Luther, ‘Concerning the Ministry’, Luther’s Works, vol. 40, edited by Jaroslav Pelikan, Concordia Publishing House, St Louis, 1955-1986, p. 27. The mention of ‘keys’, and indeed the entire quote, is in reference to Matthew 16:19: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”)--- From the The Briefing by Matthias Media

Meal Plan for this Sunday at Coast
Here's what's new on the menu.
9 AM Pastor's Class
Means of Grace Within the Church
What are the different activities within the life of the church that God uses to bring blessing to us? What do we miss if we neglect involvement in a local church?
9 AM Children's 4-7 SS
This week the Israelites will finally be reaching Canaan. Whew!
Though Israel was disobedient and unfaithful, God still kept His promises.
As the Israelites wandered in that desert, I bet they wondered and talked a lot about what Canaan was like. Did you know that Canaan was God's way of picturing heaven to His people?
Ever wonder what heaven will be like?
Well, come this Sunday and find out!
See you then!
Mrs. Miles, Miss Joy, and Miss Christie
9 AM Children's 8-12 SS
We will continue to study the topic of prayer and the acrostic "A.C.T.S." this week.
10:30 AM Worship Service
The Eternal Optimist - Part 3 (Romans 8:26-30)
When it says "all things work together for good" does it really mean all things?
Hope to see you on Sunday, hungry and hopeful.

Doing the Gospel Math: The Logical Conclusion of this Chapter and the Gospel
Romans 8:28. Could there be any other conclusion to come to based on what Paul has already said?
• No condemnation. (Romans 8:1)
• Future resurrection from the dead. (Romans 8:11)
• Adoption as God’s children and no spirit of fear. (Romans 8:15)
• Suffering leads to inheritance and glory. (Romans 8:17)
• Suffering is nothing compared to the glory to come. (Romans 8:18)
• Suffering is the pregnancy of joy. (Romans 8:22)
• A salvation that is primarily future, for we have been saved in ‘hope.’ (Romans 8:24-25)
• The perfect intercession of the Spirit answered by God. (Romans 8:26-27)
If you think about the implications of all this and “add it all up” you come up with something like what we find in Romans 8:28!
